In her densely colored drawings Nellie Mae Rowe often depicts plants, animals, and human figures fantastically intertwined with abstract shapes and quilt-like patterns. This work, which is on view in our galleries for the “Art of Care” exhibition, transforms a regular visit to the podiatrist into an outlandish scene filled with butterflies, birds, and people.
