HiPOD 26 January 2021: Crater, Embayed
South of Arsia Mons and located in vast Daedalia Planum is this fairly small (under 2 km) impact crater that’s been enclosed (embayed) by lava flows. It doesn’t appear that the lava overtopped the rim. Context Camera images show interesting small-scale characteristics of the geology that we can see in better detail with HiRISE.
Black and white is less than 5 km across; enhanced color is less than 1 km.
