Palasnath temple in Bhima River, Maharashtra

Devashish Shah wrote :
Palasnath temple is located at a distance of 125km from Pune. This temple is located in the middle of river Bhima. While going to Solapur road, you will come across Palasdeo village and the road straight from village will take you near the point of boats service, which will take you to the temple. They charge 50rs for the round trip and you can spend any amount of time there.

This temple was submerged totally under water for last 35 years and resurfaced in 2013. It still goes underwater during monsoon and winter but you can visit this temple in Summer to explore it fully. There are two temples here, one of which is a big Shiva temple where the Shivling is not present now but the architecture of temple is still in good condition. Previously, a village used to be here but due to increased level of Ujjani dam, it was relocated to somewhere else and maybe locals would have taken the idol with them.

I found two large VEERGAL here which are carved from all the four sides and hence appears square-shaped. Proper care needs to be taken when the temple is visible as some of the crowd was climbing on the Kalash of temple and it may destroy the architecture which has remained intact with time.

The temple has resurfaced only because it didn’t rain enough and the drought like conditions gave rebirth to this lost heritage. Plan to visit in April-May to explore the whole temple.
